At Love INC, we know that ministry often happens in the unexpected places.
Here is a beautiful letter from one of our incredible volunteers who found joy unexpectedly behind the counter and among the clothing racks. In her own words, she reflects on how serving at Renewed Treasures has strengthened her faith, connected her to community, and given her a front-row seat to the quiet, faithful ways God’s love permeates each of our lives.
Dear Renewed Treasures,
It is midnight and the [anniversary] of my husband’s death. Why would I want to talk to you? Let me tell you why…
The Lord has his arms around me and has given me the strength to go on. I know his love and his gift of grace, but how hard this time of year is. Then there was Renewed Treasures!
Somehow my Lord’s love for me led me to this little “shop on the corner.” It brought me the friendship and love I needed — those who love Christ as I do. Saturday afternoons are so special to me [when I volunteer at the store].
Then my world changed and opened up [further] when you asked me to come in on Tuesday mornings too. What a joy it was to know that morning Tuesday group [of volunteers as well].
Then the Lord tells me I need to study Romans [with my church Bible study] and that is on Tuesday mornings! ‘Why Tuesday, Lord, I’m committed to RT?,’ I tell him, as if I know all.
Then, once again, I realize how well HE knows ME and loves me. He gave me Tuesday afternoons and all those [new friends] I now have in my life. How gracious is our Lord. How I needed these wonderful sisters of Christ in my life.
I guess I am just trying to say what a joy and purpose we have to the community [through Renewed Treasures], to bring the love of Christ to those we meet. And the joy of this little store–the fellowship, the love, the prayer and support we bring to each other–this is [a testament to] God’s love for each of us on this earth.
