When I began as Executive Director of this amazing organization in January 2016, little did I know that I would experience a true “baptism by fire” on April 6, a mere three months into my tenure. Fast forward to November, 2018…Love INC is living into our mission to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ with our IMPACT program. We’re very busy every day with calls to our helpline and dozens of volunteers regularly supporting the day-to-day operations that a small staff oversees.
Of course there is never a good time for a disaster, which is what hit again on Saturday, November 17 when the other tower in that same apartment complex burned. Truly too much déjà vu…which continued to play out today, when residents of Windermere Apartments heard were told, “The building is uninhabitable.” All 163 seniors must look for a new home and work with insurance agents, friends and family, and caring church members through Love INC to make the necessary plans.
Love INC is collaborating with other local organizations in the Long Term Recovery Group, and a dedicated group of leaders from various churches are leading the Love INC response through a Windermere Fire Task Force. We are seeking individuals who want to walk alongside fire victims, as a Navigator who will provide support and strategy through the insurance claim and relocation process.
If you would like to be a part of some of the relief efforts and are already a Love INC volunteer, please reach out to Susan Ganz at susan@loveinclittleton.org.
If you would like to become a volunteer with Love INC, please sign up for an upcoming orientation here and Redemptive Compassion training here.
Please pray for these individuals and for the church’s response.
